ASUS is going nuts over at 2016 IFA, in Berlin. Their Windows selection is stunning, but Android tablet lovers are getting some love too. Enter the ZenPad 3S 10, a 9.7-inch gadget that is meant for media consumption.
Billed as an entertainment-focused mobile device, the ZenPad 10 sports other media enhancing features such as virtual 7.1 surround sound audio thanks to DTS Headphone X tech, and High-Res Audio (HRA) support for full 24-bit audio playback. And when you don’t have headphones plugged in, the ZenPad 10 packs a total of five speakers to pump out the sound.
Powering the ZenPad 10 is a 5,900mAh battery that Asus said last around ten hours if you watch movies and shows all day, or 12 if you limit usage to browsing the web on the Wi-Fi. And it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 — the electronics maker said you can expect a full recharge in about 3 hours, give or take a few minutes.
Inside, the ZenPad 3S 10’s specs aren’t too shabby either. It is got a hexacore MediaTek 8176 CPU with 4 gigabyte of RAM and 64 gigabyte of storage, as well as a microSD expanion if you need some extra space.
Asus has yet to announce global availability or pricing, but if the latter is in line with the sticker price in the Asus’ home market of Taiwan (TWD 11,000), we’re expecting somewhere around $350. That is put it within striking distance of Samsung’s Tab S2 — the 9.7-inch model which starts at $400.
