Fujifilm has rolled out numerous instant cameras in the recent months, and now it’s back with another one: the new Fujifilm Instax Mini 9. This new model is different from most of the other ones because it has a selfie mirror includes an attachable close-up lens, as well as a high-key mode, that lets you minimize shadows in a photo. But perhaps more importantly, this Instax Mini 9 comes in a new range of colors. The Smokey White and Cobalt Blue variants will be out in June, while the Lime Green, Ice Blue and Flamingo Pink versions of the instant camera will be out in April. Fujifilm is touting the Instax Mini 9 as the perfect party accessory for high school proms, nights out, weddings, as well as self-portraits and everyday scenes.
This new Instax Mini 9 is the latest in Fujifilm’s instant print series of film cameras. Unlike some of the company’s other film cameras, this camera actually comes out with a small selfie mirror on the front, thus enabling you to ensure, you and your subject are in the frame when you taking selfies. Given that it uses the film, safe to say the redos and retakes will be a very costly process, so getting it right on first shot is so much important.
The new Mini 9 ships with a close-up lens attachment that make it possible to snap the images only 14″ away. There’s a new mode called ‘high-key’ that simply adjusts brightness meaning you can take photos that look brighter and softer. It just measures 4.6 x 4.6 x 2.7 inch and weighs 11 oz before adding film and batteries.
In terms of pricing, when the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 hits store shelves in April it will cost U.S. customers $70 where it’ll also be available in a bunch of funky colors.
